INTRODUCED IN 1930’S
Free milk was given to New Zealand schoolchildren from 1937
milk was available to over 80% of schoolchildren.
n the 1950s school milk bottles had cardboard tops with a small hole for the straw.
The first Labour government wanted to improve the health and welfare of young New Zealanders and use up surplus milk.
The scheme lasted until 1967.

in schools made schools a fruit promoted schools
they knew that if you ate healthy it meant you have a healthy mind for learning.
Fruit
They bought it to school so our parents now that we are staying healthy
they brought to our schools because less children were eating healthy.
It also meant no more going to the doctors.
